What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is for everyone. No one is too old, too young, too tired, too stiff. Using the extensive training provided in the Iyengar certification process, I develop an individualized approach for each student. There are modifications for every pose, and props (wall, blocks, blankets) are used as needed so that each student can achieve proper alignment and extension.
Because of the individualized approach and highly instructional nature of the practice, classes proceed as a series of poses, rather than as a continuous flow. This allows time for the student to observe themselves from the inside out and to incorporate their learnings as the practice proceeds.
Students begin with standing poses. In time, other poses are added, including forward bends, back bends, twists, inversions, and restorative poses.
